This is so beautifully written, and captures - not only his amazing spirit, but also your profound grief. I cannot begin to fathom what you have gone through, and what you continue to go through every day missing your beloved child. My heart aches so much for you.

Thank you Judi. I’m thrilled that all of what I’m intending to communicate is coming across just how I want it! My grief is something I manage daily, sometimes minute by minute and sometimes hour by hour. It’s always there even when I smile and laugh. But I’m not always in pain. Grief is sadness and joy and longing and regret and happiness all jumbled together!

You're amazing. My Grandmother's only child was my beloved Mummy. Mummy was only 46 years old when she unexpectedly passed away. My Grandmother never got over her loss, and many times she said, "This is not the way life is supposed to be. A parent is not meant to outlive his/her child." Your writing is healing and helpful to you. Continue doing that, along with your beautiful personality and lovely smile.

I can relate to this dynamic with a kid who didn’t like to join traditional sports or at least until he did. I recall pressuring patrick somewhat when he was younger to find something he liked. He hated softball! He was good at music but didn’t like performing —he was also a talented comedic actor but didn’t like memorizing lines. The thing he ended up enjoying the most soccer-was definitely not the thing he was most talented at but it did seem to give him joy. He was so short compared to the other boys until he was 15 at which point he had let soccer go because he wouldn’t have made the cut in high school after his freshman year.

Josh got bored and restless very easily. He hates routine and repetitiveness. So do I. He like indoor climbing for a while but skateboarding gave him the freedom he craved.

Wow thanks!! I wasn’t sure about this one. I wrote it and kept stopping thinking oh this isn’t capturing him, so thank you!!! My writing is flowing so effortlessly I think it’s not good if it’s not hard. 😆
